Two clear aligner systems, one goal

If you'd like straighter teeth without fixed braces, clear aligners are usually the first thing people ask about. At Thorpe Lea Dental we offer two systems: Invisalign and Angel Aligners. Both use a series of custom-made, removable trays that move your teeth gradually into place. Both are discreet enough that most people won't notice you're wearing them.

So how do you choose? The honest answer is that it depends on your teeth, what you'd like to change and your budget. Here's how we think about it.

What the two systems have in common

Whichever system you choose, the treatment follows the same pattern:

  • A consultation to talk through what you'd like to change
  • A digital 3D scan of your teeth, with photos and X-rays if needed, so there are no messy impressions
  • A treatment plan and a preview of how your smile could look
  • A series of aligners you wear for most of the day and take out to eat, drink and brush
  • Retainers at the end to keep your teeth where they are

Because the aligners are removable, you can keep brushing and flossing as normal, and there are no brackets or wires to catch on your cheeks.

Where Angel Aligners stand out

Angel Aligners give a comparable treatment experience to Invisalign at a more accessible price. At Thorpe Lea, Angel Aligner treatment starts from £3,100, and every package includes:

  • Refinement stages to fine-tune your result
  • Professional teeth whitening (worth £475)
  • One set of removable retainers

Treatment can take anywhere from 4 to 18 months, depending on how much movement your teeth need. For many people who had looked at Invisalign before and felt it was out of reach, Angel Aligners are a realistic way to get started.

When Invisalign may suit you better

Invisalign is the best-known aligner system and has been used to treat a very wide range of cases. For some more complex bites, it may be the better fit. We'll tell you if we think that's the case for you, and why.

How we help you decide

You don't need to know which system you want before you come in. At your consultation we'll look at your teeth and bite, scan your teeth and talk about what matters most to you, whether that's the look of the finished smile, how long treatment takes or the cost. We'll then recommend the option we think suits you best and explain the costs clearly before you commit to anything.

Aligners aren't only for adults, either. Depending on the complexity of the case, we can also treat older children and teenagers with clear aligners.
